The PSA process usesmolecular sieve (a synthetic zeolite),which attracts (adsorbs) nitrogen fromair at high pressure and releases(desorbs) it at low pressure.AirSep Oxygen Generators use twovessels filled with molecular sieve asadsorbers. As compressed feed airflows through one of the vessels, themolecular sieve adsorbs nitrogen.
The remaining oxygen passes throughthe vessel and exits as the productgas. Before the adsorber becomessaturated with nitrogen, the feed air isdiverted to the second vessel. At thatpoint, the sieve in the first vesselregenerates by desorbing the nitrogenthrough depressurization and purgingit with oxygen from the second vessel.This process is then repeated in thesecond vessel to complete a cyclethat allows the oxygen generator todeliver a constant flow of productoxygen at 90% minimum purity. Undernormal operating conditions, themolecular sieve is completelyregenerative and will last indefinitely.
