The face mask consists three parts namely, the mount, the body, and the edge. The upper end or mount of face mask is made of hard rubber and this end fits with the angle piece adaptor. The mount may be of a 22mm female taper. Often the face mask provides a metal ring with hooks just below the mount for attachment with the strap of harness. at the bottom it is provided with air filled cuff which has soft cushioning effect. A face piece should have minimum dead space. An adult sized face masks may contribute a dead space ranging from 80ml to 200ml.
